Why I Don’t Like AI for Content Writing

I don’t like AI.

I don’t want to use AI for content writing.

I am a content writer and believe using it is not right. It will replace the creativity and uniqueness that humans bring to content writing. It’s cheating. You are not a content writer if you are using AI.

That was me years ago.

Not until I was forced to learn Jasper.ai by one of my managers.

“You’ll gonna love it,” he said.

How could I?

I thought.

AI Changes the Way We Live and Work

However, I cannot ignore the fact that AI is on the rise everywhere. AI has become integral to our lives, infiltrating home and work environments. It is optimizing processes and simplifying tasks across various industries.  From self-driving cars to virtual assistants, AI is changing the way we live and work.

And today, AI has now taken over the content creation space.

The Rise of AI in Content Writing

Content creation has traditionally been associated with human creativity and originality. Whether it’s writing, art, or film, we envision passionate creators pouring their hearts into their work. It is evident nowadays that artificial intelligence is revolutionizing how content writers and creators produce content. The landscape of content creation is rapidly evolving, and AI is at the forefront of this transformation.

ChatGPT for Content Writing. AI for content writing.

ChatGPT

Many companies and individuals opt for AI to generate written content faster and cheaper. One popular tool today is ChatGPT.

ChatGPT emerged in November 2022 when OpenAI launched it as a chatbot using the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) model. Its development started in 2018. ChatGPT is a conversational AI technology that uses natural language processing and machine learning to enable chatbots to interact with humans more human-likely. It answers questions, provides information, and assists in various tasks.

A major influence of ChatGPT on the content writing landscape is its ability to automate content generation. Before, content creators exclusively handled creating content outlines, crafting informative articles, blog posts, and product descriptions, among others. However, with ChatGPT’s capacity, it can aid in content creation by offering useful insights, proposing ideas, or even composing complete pieces. This innovation has greatly enhanced efficiency and productivity within the industry.

However, as someone passionate about writing, I cannot help but feel concerned about the implications of using AI for content creation.

Human Touch vs Machine Efficiency

One of the main reasons AI is being used for content writing is its efficiency. With AI, content can be generated at a much faster rate than humans. It can also handle large volumes of data and information, resulting in more output in less time.

But what about the human touch? The art of writing goes beyond just stringing words together. It involves emotion, creativity, and personal experiences. These are things that AI, with all its advanced algorithms and data processing capabilities, cannot replicate.

The Importance of Human Creativity in Content Writing

As much as AI can assist in content creation, it will never be able to replace the human element. Content writing is not just about conveying information; it’s also about connecting with the audience on a personal level. It’s about evoking emotions and sparking thoughts and discussions.

Human creativity sets content writing apart from other forms of automated content generation. It’s the ability to think outside the box, bring a unique perspective, and create something that resonates with others—things that AI cannot do.

The Future of Content Writing

So, where does this leave us? Will AI completely take over content creation, rendering human writers obsolete?

I don’t believe so.

When it comes to creativity or evoking specific emotions in content, AI has its limitations. It still cannot match the human touch of an experienced writer in terms of exploration and expression. Regardless of any potential drawbacks or concerns, there is no denying that AI is already having a massive impact on content creation and will continue to do so in the future.

I Use AI and It Helped Me A Lot

When my manager said, “You’re gonna love it.”

He’s right.

AI offers convenience and efficiency, especially when handling repetitive tasks. It has allowed me to focus on more critical aspects of content writing, such as research and creating unique perspectives. With AI’s assistance, I have become a better writer and have been able to produce high-quality content at a faster rate.  I use AI as a supplement rather than a replacement for my writing skills.

Whether you are a writer or a business owner, you cannot change the fact that AI is here to stay. Refuse to adapt, and you will be left behind. Embrace the new; it is the only way to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving world.

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." - Alan Watts
